I am heading out of town tomorrow for a nice long vacation to Nova Scotia Canada. It’s been quite a while since I’ve taken a long vacation and I’m very excited!

My husband has a lot of history in this part of Canada that I’m looking forward to seeing and learning about for the first time. In addition, we are going with two other couples who will add a lot of fun and enjoyment to the trip.

As I prepare for the journey, I’m anticipating the sights, the experiences and the fun we will have on this trip. My one year wedding anniversary is also going to be celebrated while we are away! There is much to be excited about – my anticipation is heightened.

As I wrap up my work, complete assignments with clients and organize my professional engagements so that nothing is left undone while I’m away, I think about one of my biggest passions and my profession…leadership coaching. I reflect on all of the leaders that I have the honor & privilege to support, coach and encourage.

I think about the parallels of a leadership journey and a personal journey… and I wonder…as a leader…

What do you anticipate when you think of your leadership journey?

What are you seeing, hearing, learning for the first time?

Who is on your journey with you?

How will their company and presence add value to your experience as a leader?

Who do you want on your journey with you that you need to invite?

What are you celebrating on your leadership journey?

How will you celebrate?

What new “places” do you want to plan to see and enjoy as a leader?

What would make your journey more enjoyable?

Leadership is all about taking people on a journey. The challenge is that most of the time, we are asking people to follow us to places we ourselves have never been.

I’d sincerely welcome an opportunity to hear about your journey & the sights, sounds, experiences, the people that you’ve met along the way including the various destinations that you’ve found!

I hope you are enjoying your journey!
